Formerly known as "The Madonna of Madrid," Penélope Cruz turned from beautiful ballerina to buxom film star in the Spanish-lensed international arthouse smash Jamón, jamón (1992). Other European hits followed, and Pen made the leap to Hollywood with Woman on Top (2000), followed by All the Pretty Horses (2000) and Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001). Vanilla Sky (2001) is director Cameron Crowe's remake of the Spanish sci-fi mind and wad blower Obre las ojas (1997). Penélope starred in both versions, and so did her bare breasts. How's that for typecasting? Pen continues to work in both Spanish and American productions—and she continues to show off her fabulous body in many of them, including Elegy (2008) and Los Abrazos rotos (2009). After a disappointingly skin-free lesbian peck with Scarlett Johansson in Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2009), Cruz returned to nude form in Broken Embraces (2009).
